My current addictions – Aloe Blacc & Exile

Emanon, duo Aloe Blacc & Exile, released  DYSTOPIA (full album below) about a month ago. With many artists over-hyping their releases in December (yeah, I’m talking Cole), Blacc & Exile took the opposite tactic and very quietly dropped a gem.

“Blueprinting my life on white canvas with no brush and paint, just blood out my veins.” – Make It Over

My favorite song on the album is This Little Light. In 2016, songs about social justice and politics flourished. Don’t get me wrong, I love many of those songs, songs about Black Lives Matter, FDT, etc. Aloe Blacc, in This Little light, did something different that resonated with me. He discussed the injustice and ugliness in the world, but instead of leaving you with a feeling of anger or frustration, Aloe brings a message of hope and love, encouraging you to:

 “shine your light on that”
